The unique environment of caring for young and old together under one roof, and the benefits it offers, is what attracts staff to working at Belong’s intergenerational setting in Cheshire.

Ran by charity Ready Generations, The Nursery in Belong is the first fully integrated intergenerational nursery located in a care village in the North-West.

As a small nursery working to bring generations together, it operates a ‘family groupings model’. The charity’s co-founders Sue Egersdorff and Liz Ludden say this means that babies, children and older people are able to learn alongside each other as well as with their direct peer group. ‘Our team are committed to developing this approach and we are seeing real benefits for children’s development,’ they explain.
