Footsteps Day Nurseries acquires 10th nursery

Staffordshire-based regional chain Footsteps Day Nurseries has acquired Lollipops Day Nursery in Stafford, bringing the company’s nurseries to 10 settings in total.

Gavin Harvey from Footsteps Day Nurseries bought the nursery from previous owner Laura Steed, who ran the nursery for 30 years as a family business. She has now decided to retire and said she was pleased to be handing over the reins to an established childcare provider.

Located close to Stafford station, the 81-place nursery caters for children aged from birth to five.

Owner Mr Harvey said, ‘Footsteps are delighted to add the Lollipops nursery in Stafford to our group of high quality settings and the nursery will be rebranded under the Footsteps banner and undergo a complete internal/external refurbishment in the coming months.’

Mr Harvey added that the group was looking to expand further through both new build and acquiring settings and was now looking at opportunities nationwide.

Tamara Skipworth, business agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, said, ‘The market for childcare businesses continues to be strong across the Midlands with many multiple operators looking to acquire further sites to add to their portfolios. With several first-time buyers also looking to enter the sector, such as former teachers and healthcare professionals, 2017 looks to be a good time for those who are looking to sell.’
