Explore 95 years of the early lives of young children through Nursery World’s archives, now available online.

Nursery World was founded in 1925 for all those looking after young children, with our letters pages providing a lifeline for vital advice for nannies and mothers - as well as being home to much heady debate.

Our rich archive also documents the numerous social changes of the 20th and early 21st century - from women’s universal suffrage to the legalisation of gay marriage - while the trials of the early years sector are also well-documented, with poor pay and conditions being discussed as far back as 1943.

Experts featured among our pages include the likes of John Bowlby, the 'father' of attachment theory. Learning disability Mencap was also founded through the pages of Nursery World.

We now publish extracts from our archives once per month in our new ‘On this day’ series, which, along with our most recent birthday supplements, are all now in a new ‘Archive’ section on our website, which can be found under the 'resources' tab on the homepage.
