Toad Hall nursery group expands

The nursery group, based in the South East, has acquired a new nursery just outside Bedford.
Puddleducks Childcare Nursery in Colmworth, Bedfordshire, is the group’s 16th nursery, and will have capacity for 70 children.
It caters for children aged three months to school age and was judged outstanding by Ofsted.
The nursery is equipped with a large outdoor play area and surrounded by countryside, and previously belonged to a single site operator.
Chief executive Ruth Pimentel said tthe group worked closely with the previous operator to ‘ensure that the transition was smooth.’
‘We are delighted that all the staff have stayed with us and they are looking forward to refreshing their practice and learning about the company,’ she added.
As the group celebrates its 15-year anniversary, it hopes to continue with a steady growth of one to two new sites every year.
The acquisition adds to two new sites, which opened at the end of 2013, the re-opening of an improved nursery in Woking following a fire in 2012, and the refurbishment and expansion of the Langley site in Berkshire and Hitchin in Hertfordshire.
Ms Pimentel said, ‘The impact of our initiatives is beginning to pay off. We have a strong health and safety culture and a focus on high quality care with all staff qualified in paediatric First Aid, regular health and safety audits and excellent nutrition.
‘We also focus on children’s learning and development with regular training for staff on early language and physical development.’
