Pupils read to dogs

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Children from St Michael's primary school in Bournemouth have found the perfect audience for helping to build their confidence when they read aloud. The four-legged helpers are taking part in a literacy-boosting experiment at the school where pupils read to dogs once a week for 45 minutes. The dogs' owners lend an ear as well, sitting in on each reading session to help out if a child stumbles on words or gets stuck.
