Graduation

Settings across the country held graduation ceremonies to say goodbye tothose starting school next term. Children at Little Acorns Day Nurseryin Washington Tyne and Wear and Mirfield, Busy Bees Day Nursery inDurham, Crosby Nursery in Carlisle, Cumbria and Bright KidsNursery at Crabbs Cross were awarded with graduation certificates as amemento of their time at nursery. Little Acorns Day Nursery in LingleyMere, Warrington celebrated the children's move to school with an uglybugs ball.

Green Fingers

Children at Grasshoppers Day Nursery in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, havebeen very busy over the past few months converting the nursery outdoorspace into a nature garden. The garden now includes a vegetable patch,woodland area with a hedgehog house, compost area, herb and fruit patioand a wild grass area with a butterfly station.

Healthy Eating

Leapfrog Day Nursery in Chelmsford, Essex, is celebrating after beingawarded Chelmsford Borough Council's Gold Award for Healthy Eating. Thecouncil award is aimed at businesses that provide food and promote goodeating habits, and recognises the nursery's commitment to providingnutritious meals for children.

Charity Walk

Staff from Kids Count Day Nursery and Pre-School in Hartford, Cheshire,raised 1,297.30 for St Luke's Hospice when they took part in itsMidnight Walk.

Charity bridge walk

Chase Hospice Care is calling on early years teams and families to dustoff their comfy walking shoes and take part in a walk across nine Londonbridges on 27 September. The walk starts at the Tower of London andfinishes at the Imperial War Museum, where participants can enjoy astreet party and explore attractions at the museum. The charity hopes toraise 22,000 to help support families with children who are notexpected to reach their 19th birthday. Entry is 12 for adults and5 for children under 16. Photo of the week: Children at Little Acorns in Gomersal, WestYorkshire, have been overcoming their fear of mini-beasts by observingworms in the nursery's new wormery. The idea is to teach children aboutnature and build their confidence after they got scared when they foundlots of bugs while planting vegetables in the nursery garden.
