Once there was an island where the people were happy but thought they could do better. So they decided to recreate their glory days and become the best hockey country in the world.
Children were given an expensive hockey stick the day they started crawling. It was obvious: learning skills early would soon produce world-class players. It was hard and expensive, but eventually the island had the finest hockey team and the people were happy.
Do you believe in fairy tales? I don't, at least not this one. A more likely ending to the story is this. Using the big sticks so young hindered the children's co-ordination and social skills. They learned the stick skills badly, and when older and stronger had to unlearn their clumsy ways.
