Parents launch campaign to save nursery at independent school

Parents campaigning to save a school nursery from closure say they were not consulted by the school, and that the situation is made worse because of the lack of alternative provision, with local nurseries booked up until 2026.

Beech Hall Nursery in Macclesfield is part of an independent school and will close at the end of the summer term, unless it can be saved from closure.

The nursery is attached to Beech Hall School run by the Outcomes First Group and was graded ‘Outstanding’ in its last inspection by the ISI in December.

The school says it is closing the nursery to expand its provision for older children attending the junior and senior school, from Reception to Year 13.

Campaigners say that 65 children and 13 members of staff are affected, and that families were informed of the closure via email, with no prior consultation with parents taking place. The nursery offers funded places.
