In brief...Teaching children how to cross a road

Teaching children how to cross a road does not mean they will put their knowledge into practice, according to a study of 120 Scottish four-and five-year-olds carried out by the British Psychological Society. The children were taught road safety using three commercially marketed products, and their knowledge remained six months later. However, they did not act on what they had learned when put into situations in which they had to decide where to cross roads for themselves.
