Advocacy for Education, the National Autistic Society's advocacy service for parents of children with autism and Asperger Syndrome, has just celebrated its first anniversary. Since its launch last year by Cherie Booth QC, the service has helped almost 1,000 families in their attempts to secure appropriate education for their autistic children. However, with a raft of new Government legislation on special needs about to come into operation, the service is looking for more volunteers to help cope with demand. If you would like to help, call 020 7903 3760 or e-mail advocacy@nas.org.uk. The Education Advocacy Line is on 0800 358 8667.
