ICAN, the educational charity for children with speech and language difficulties, has appointed Linda Redford to the newly-created post of director of services to children and families. Ms Redford has a strong background in education, including teaching for more than 20 years in mainstream and specialist settings, and being a schools adviser and inspector, and NCH national education advisor. I CAN chief executive Gill Edelman said, 'Linda will play a leading role in completing I CAN's national network of 20 early years centres by March 2004, and in developing our plans further for the evolution of I CAN's special schools into regional specialist centres.'
