The Welsh Assembly said last week that it is to put 2m towards the redevelopment of Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn, an all-age maintained day and residential special school for children with autism, Asperger's syndrome and related communication disorders. The 2m, combined with a further Pounds 250,000 from Denbigh County Council, will enable work to begin immediately on development of the site. The result will be in high-quality residential services providing flexible care packages for autistic children up to and including 52-week care, a new specialist intensive support unit to meet the social and emotional needs of children exhibiting severe challenging behaviour, a centre for professional development and support for parents, and assessed provision for children up to the age of four.
