
The term ‘school readiness’ is regularly being mentioned in the media and, as September draws nearer, you may be thinking about how best to prepare your child for the transition to ‘big school’. But what does it really mean for a child to be ‘school ready’?
While starting school is an exciting milestone, it can also be daunting and it is common for parents to worry that their child isn't ready. Perhaps your child is not writing their name yet, can't count to ten or recite the alphabet, and other children of a similar age may seem more ‘advanced’; but, contrary to popular belief, school readiness is not about academic attainment.
