At Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries, managers can enrol on a mental health first-aid course with Kate Moxley, which introduces mental health conditions, techniques to support someone in crisis, and how to direct them to the right services.

‘I wish everyone had the opportunity to do it, I'm so glad we were able to,’ says Francesca Higgins, nursery manager at Monkey Puzzle Ridgmont Road Nursery in St Albans.

‘There is a real overlap with depression and other neurodivergences. Sometimes you don't really know what causes which behaviours. But the biggest thing for us is that staff can come and talk to us about it.
