New research into family attitudes and parental leave has been published by the Equal Opportunities Commission. Two studies, Dads and Their Babies: a household analysis and 21st Century Dad, can be found at www.eoc.org.uk under 'Publications'.

The Food Standards Agency is urging communications regulator Ofcom to introduce a pre-watershed ban on junk food television advertisements. Ofcom has said it would rule out such a move because of the high cost to broadcasters, and proposes a milder ban focused specifically on children's programmes. The Government's food watchdog's recommendation has the support of the National Consumer Council and many leading health campaigners.
