NCB to continue role as early years lead for DfE

The National Children’s Bureau (NCB) has been reappointed early years stakeholder lead by the Department for Education (DfE).

The contract, which will run until 31 March 2022, includes management of the Foundation Years website and newsletters.

The NCB was awarded the contract following a ‘competitive’ tender process.

Making the announcement, the NCB said,Over the last year, we have seen the extraordinary commitment of the early years sector in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. We have also heard about the challenges you are facing and we will continue to work collaboratively with the whole sector and DfE to make sure your views inform policy development and the activity we deliver through Foundation Years.

‘There will be a variety of opportunities throughout the year for you to share your views on policy and practice developments.’

The NCB has been the DfE’s early years stakeholder since April 2019 after taking over from Action for Children who previously held the contract.

The team leading the work includes Gill Holden - principal Officer of the Early Childhood Unit at NCB and an early childhood professional, and Celeste Pergolizzi – early years policy lead.
