College scores a century

* The Institute of Education celebrated its 100th birthday last week with the publication of a book of its history. The Institute of Education 1902-2002: A Centenary History, by Professor Richard Aldrich, tells how it was founded as the London Day Training College to provide teachers for the city's elementary schools, then became a college of the University of London and an international postgraduate centre for educational research.
