Children's Centres – Reach out, regional event

This seminar will provide delegates with an update from Ofsted on the latest developments and how to prepare for centre inspections. It will also debate the evolving role of health in children’s centres and share effective best practice on how children’s centres can support teenage parents.

Practitioners will also explore children's centres as a catalyst for early intervention and dicuss how children's centres can work with local settings and providers to boost children's outcomes.

Speakers at this year's Pre-School Learning Alliance conference-'More than just a number: making families and practitioners count', include Sue Gregory-Ofsted's director of early childhood and Liam Byrne MP-Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, along with the Alliance's chief executive Neil Leitch.

Delegates can also browse the latest early years products and services at the conference's exhibition as well as attend seminars covering the implications of the More Great Childcare proposals on the workforce and two-year-olds.

The conference will also play host to the Pre-School Learning Alliance's Volunteer Awards, which this year will be hosted by Lady Floella Benjamin.

The future for early years and childcare

This seminar will present a timely opportunity to examine the initial impact of the new, streamlined Early Years Foundation Stage Framework at the end of its first academic year.

Delegates will also discuss the Government's recent proposals to improve the quality and increase the affordability of childcare through higher professional standards, widened  childcare ratios for under-5s and a reformed childcare voucher scheme.

Further sessions will also examine the prospective role of new childminder agencies and, from September 2013, changes to early years inspections that give full responsibility to Ofsted.

A global gathering for early childhood
