Early years workers can find out how to survive the stresses of an Ofsted inspection at a seminar organised by the Professional Association of Teachers on 12 October in Birmingham. It is part of a special one-day conference aimed at childcarers, staff in independent schools and further or higher education. The seminar will discuss what the school, teachers, nursery nurses, classroom assistants and governors are responsible for before and during the inspection. The Scottish Executive's commitment to an integrated approach to the provision of care was underlined by First Minister Jack McConnell when he opened the joint headquarters of the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care and the Scottish Social Services Council in Dundee. He said housing both independent bodies in Compass House on the banks of the River Tay would allow them to work closely to deliver 'better care services for some of the most vulnerable in our society, such as looked-after children and older people'. Mr McConnell added, 'They will ensure that, whether you live in Dumfries or Dundee, Aberdeen or Ardrossan, you can rely on the same quality of care.'
