Emerging, Expected and Exceeding: understanding the revised Early Years Foundation Stage Profile

By Helen Moylett and Nancy Stewart (Early Excellence, £15.50)

This publication starts with an explanation of the purposes, principles and processes of the revised EYFS Profile. Successive chapters then provide practical information and advice on how to complete the profile effectively.

Among the subjects covered are observational assessment; effective ongoing assessment processes, including evidence and documentation, supported by Development Matters; and using the profile for transition to Year 1.

There is also a chapter dedicated to meeting the challenges of assessing children with a disability or special educational needs; children for whom English is not their home language, and children from minority groups.
