Supporting young children’s creative and critical thinking

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Outline:

All children are creative and critical thinkers and generously share this with us through their ideas, fascinations and interests as they play and talk. What we have to do is notice, recognise, respond, record and reflect on what we see! This course will help you to do just that.

We will:

  • unpick what it means to create and think critically  so that we can recognise and understand what we see children doing
  • think about how we can observe this happening when we watch babies, toddlers and young children.  Looking at some case studies and learning stories of children’s creative and critical thinking.
  • think about the ways we can record   children’s creative and critical thinking and how we can show children’s progress and plan for their next steps.
  • think together about  the ways we can respond and reflect to support children’s creative and critical thinking.
