Busy Bees has named the national winners of its winter nature scrapbook competition as part of a wider outdoor initiative.

Busy Bees Goes Wild was launched at the beginning of the year in partnership with the Wildlife Trust to help connect children with nature.

Marg Randles, co-founder and managing director of Busy Bees Childcare, said, ‘We have been overwhelmed with the response from children, parents and staff to the Busy Bees Goes Wild initiative.

‘It’s been a pleasure to see so many of our children taking part in a huge range of outdoorsy activities, both at home and at nursery.

‘From creating beautiful ice decorations to making bird feeders and wrapping up warm for a winter stroll in the park, our children have surpassed our expectations and delivered scrapbooks that have truly dazzled us.’

Children attending Busy Bees nurseries nationwide completed winter scrapbooks both at home and at the nurseries before submitting them to be judged by the nursery manager. The scrapbooks were then judged at a regional, then national level.

The spring season in the competition includes a nature scrapbook and a poetry competition. Children will also taking part in activities such as minibeast hunts and growing vegetable gardens.

An overall Busy Bees Goes Wild champion will be crowned at the end of the autumn and will win a family break at a Center Parcs resort.  Every child who completes all four seasonal scrapbooks will receive a special hat and t-shirt for their commitment and effort.
