With the EYFS under review, our special issue examines the future of early education, as we introduce our brand new look

Better. Bolder. Brighter. We’re delighted to introduce a great new look for Nursery World magazine in this issue, designed after talking to you, our readers, about how we can help you to get the most from your favourite early years title.

The new Nursery World is designed to be easy to find your way around, with colour coding for news, opinion, practice and management sections. The fresh, modern style is aimed to make the wealth of advice and information we offer more accessible, while maintaining the authority and expertise of our articles, written by the leading figures in the early years sector.

We’ve got some great new series and features coming up, including sector favourite Penny Tassoni with speech therapist Anne-Marie Tassoni on communication and language; Julie Fisher on the adult’s role in early learning; and a six-part look at recruitment.

Regulars such as our activity pull-out section and our All About… in-depth articles remain, of course. News Roundup has moved to the front of the news section; while you’ll find Over to You at the back of the magazine.

As we embark on our next chapter, we would like to thank you for your continued support. It is a pleasure to work alongside a community of professionals so passionate about providing children with the best opportunities to develop and thrive. Do let us know what you think.

GOALS IN MIND

It’s the start of a new phase for the sector, too, with news of revisions to the Early Learning Goals and Profile imminent as I write. And there are serious concerns about the direction in which we may move. So this special themed issue has assembled the top experts to discuss not only what the future of the EYFS should be, but more widely how early childhood education can meet the needs of young children in a fast-changing world. There is so much at stake.
