Talk for Writing in the Early Years

Monday, January 11, 2016

by Pie Corbett and Julia Strong (£27.99 with DVDs, Open University Press)

Poet and educationalist Pie Corbett devised this approach to storymaking, which has now been used by early years settings to help children develop their imagination and vocabulary through stories and rhyme. In fact, Mr Corbett says that research into his ‘Talk for Writing’ methods shows they can increase the number of reception-age children able to tell a full story. This book shows early years settings how to set up the approach and how to involve parents, carers and other family members through sharing the stories collectively.
