Position: Managing director, Cherry Childcare, a group of eight settings across Surrey, Berkshire and Buckingham

Why did you launch a Syria appeal?

A friend of my father has a daughter working in a refugee camp in Syria. She had an idea to provide clothing, and more specifically footwear to children in the camp. We’ve got eight nurseries and we communicate with all the parents every week by e-news bulletins, so when we heard about it we thought we should give it a shot.

What has the response been like?

We’ve already delivered 58 bin bags full of clothes and shoes. We take a van down every week and things are continually coming in, it’s been amazing.

How would you sum up your involvement in the initiative as it enters its final week?

It’s been great to get involved with it in the year we celebrate our 20th anniversary. It’s been a great way to end the year – doing something for other people.

  • Donate spare children’s clothes and footwear at any of the eight Cherry Childcare nurseries until Friday 22nd November.
