Position: Founders of the Laila Milly Foundation
What inspired you to raise money for a new nursery in Hemsworth?
We set up the Laila Milly Foundation in memory of our daughter who died two-and-a-half years ago. She was born with a rare neurological condition that left her severely disabled. We're setting up a day centre for children from birth to five years old with severe disabilities or life-limiting conditions.
What will the nursery provide?
The nursery will offer sessional care to a maximum of four children at any one time. We have a multi-sensory room and a parents' room on the top floor. We're also going to provide classes, such as baby signing.
When will the nursery be ready?
We had a new baby boy last week, so we want to take a bit of time out with him and then open in the New Year.
