The group has opened the brand-new 89-place Crescent Day Nursery on Calthorpe Road, its second nursery in Edgbaston.

Crescent Day Nursery is a renovation of two listed buildings retaining significant architectural features. It includes large, light-filled indoor spaces over two floors, as well as a garden with a custom-built ‘Imagination Station’ fort, a cycle track complete with garage and pumps, and growing beds for children to learn maths, science and environmental messages as they plant and harvest vegetables.

‘We have to engage a child’s natural curiosity and wonder at the earliest opportunity and our stimulating and creative play and learning spaces inside and in the garden do just that,’ said nursery manager Jo Hassan.

‘We want to ensure children of all ages are enticed into the fresh air for exercise and large-scale play in all weathers.’

The group also acquired the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Nature Trails Day Nursery in Rugby in November.

The previous owners Alison and Steve Dyke continue to run another nursery, previously called Nature Trails, which has been re-branded as Pathfinders following the sale.

Like all 43 early years settings at Childbase Partnership, both the new nurseries are powered by electricity from renewable sources and all nappy waste is diverted away from landfill.
