Family and Childcare Trust names new CEO

Ms Margo, who will start the job on 20 July, replaces Stephen Dunmore who has been interim chief executive since the departure of Anand Shukla earlier this year.

Her previous roles include director of Consumer Insight at Which?, deputy director and subsequently acting director at Demos, and head of strategic research at the Institute of Public Policy Research.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Margo said, ‘I’m very excited to be joining the Family and Childcare Trust at this critical point in its trajectory. Building a social and economic deal that reflects the realities of modern family life has never been more important. The trust will make sure that the voices of parents and carers are heard in this debate as we work with Government, providers and families to make change happen.’

David White, co-chair of the Board of Trustees, said, ‘We are delighted that Julia will be our new chief executive. She comes with a very impressive track record and a strong commitment to our vision for a family-friendly UK and what we want to achieve, working with families and children. She joins us at an exciting and challenging time, when the Government’s Childcare Bill envisages key changes in the funding and provision of childcare. There are many challenges ahead for the Trust in achieving its mission and Julia will be leading a strong staff team to meet these.’
