Oxfordshire charity awarded 100,000 to support new parents and babies

The Oxford Parent Infant Project (OXPIP), a charity that supports parents to develop a relationship with their baby, has receieved a grant of 100,000 from venture philanthropy organisation the Impetus Trust.
Founded in 1998, the Oxford Parent Infant Project (OXPIP) helps parents and their babies, from birth to two, form strong and loving attachments crucial for a child’s long-term emotional well-being.
OXPIP provides support to more than 200 families a year in Oxfordshire and offers one-to-one support as well as a variety of group sessions.
The funding from the Impetus Trust, which invests in charities and social enterprises that fight economic disadvantage, will be used by OXPIP to develop its training strategy and extend their psychotherapy sessions for parents and their children beyond Oxfordshire.
Adrian Sell, executive director of OXPIP, said, ‘Working with Impetus is a remarkable opportunity. We are already making a difference to the lives of many young families in Oxfordshire and we hope that we can extend our reach to other parts of the UK. Joining the Impetus portfolio means we will have the support and expertise to achieve greater impact and help many more young families.’
Daniela Barone Soares, chief executive of Impetus, said, ‘This is a very exciting time for OXPIP. They are at the forefront of an innovative approach that has the potential to have a real impact on the lives of many disadvantaged families.’
