Position: Manager of Rainbows nursery in Shenstone, Staffordshire

Why did you decide to do a two-week walk for Breast Cancer Care alongthe Great Wall of China, raising nearly 5,000 in total for thecharity?

A colleague of my sister recently died from breast cancer, which was areal shock, after she fought such a courageous battle. I really lovewalking and decided I wanted to raise money for the charity who providesuch great support.

How did you prepare for the trek?

I organised fundraising events and a pink ball at Drayton Manor for 160guests in order to raise 3,000 required to take part in the trek. The nursery children also got involved, learning about China and doing apink toddle and ribbon walk. I also did lots of walking around the localarea and worked out on the step machine at the gym.

What are your future plans?

I am back at nursery and continuing my foundation degree. I willdefinitely do another walk, as it was such a life-changingexperience.
