Friday, December 28, 2007

Name: PC Ian Shaw

Position: Community Beat Manager, Gainsborough Uphills NeighbourhoodPolicing Team

- How have you been helping Beginnings nursery?

We first visited Beginnings after several of its windows were broken togive some advice on how to prevent further problems. In December we wereinvited back to meet the children and staff.

- Why was it important to meet the staff and children?

It was a great opportunity to meet members of the community in aninformal setting and make sure we're fulfilling their expectations.

- Were the children excited to meet you?

The children seemed to really enjoy meeting us. Some of them had dressedup as police officers themselves and we let them sit in the police carand try out the sirens and lights, and lent them our police hats. We'renow liaising between Beginnings and a local secondary school, who aregoing to build a pen for the nursery's pet duck.
