Take part in a survey on the early years sector's reputation

Early Childhood platform Famly has launched a nationwide survey to gauge how those who work in the sector feel they are viewed by society and politicians.
The survey includes questions on the job's challenges and whether the pandemic has had an impact on what people think about the job of working with young children
The findings from the survey will be compiled into a Respect The Sector report, which will include early educator ideas on what might make a difference.
Famly said it plans on producing the report annually to look at how things are changing and hold themselves accountable to their mission to make early childhood and the work in the sector valued.
Matt Arnerich, director of Brand at Famly, said, ‘Whether it’s totally inadequate funding, our struggles to get staff into early years, or the pedagogical pushdown from school policy - we’ve always believed the solution to the issues we face in the early years starts with respect. For politicians, for the public, and for all families, we want to shout from the rooftops that early education matters and is so much more than “just playing with toys all day.”
‘Making early childhood valued is part of our mission of Famly and there’s no doubt that improving the public’s perception of early education would go a long way to improving the lives of early educators across the UK. Changing that perception is just one goal of this report - we want to prove Aretha Franklin right, that just a little bit of R-E-S-P-E-C-T can go a long old way.’
He added that he hoped that the report would have a similar impact to the Early Years Alliance ‘Minds Matter’ report that raised the importance of mental health in the sector.
The survey closes on Friday 10 June.
