Position: Nursery nurse at Little Acorns Day Nursery in Washington, Tyne and Wear

- How long have you worked at the nursery?

I started as a nursery assistant looking after pre-school children at Little Acorns around five years ago, working one afternoon a week while my son attended a state nursery. Once he started school I increased my hours and have recently qualified as a nursery nurse, gaining my NVQ Level 3; my manager was over the moon.

- How did you get into childcare?

I started as a childminder when I had my first child, who is now 15. She was really clingy and wouldn't settle with anyone, so someone suggested I train as a childminder. After falling pregnant with my son I saw a vacancy online for a nursery assistant and got the job.

- What future events are taking place at the nursery?

We will be celebrating Easter next month with an Easter egg hunt and a visit from the Easter bunny - an Asda staff member who works in the warehouse above the nursery.
