Position: Director of Kiddycare Nurseries

How does it feel to be a finalist in the Natwest Everywoman Awards?

I feel honoured to be acknowledged and chosen as one of the finalists among such an illustrious list of businesswomen.

This nomination is really for all the people at Kiddycare nursery rather than me as an individual.

Why did you choose a career in childcare?

As a new mother who wished to return to work, I found it extremely difficult to find any suitable daycare facilities for my son. I recognised both a demand and a need and set about converting some unused offices into a 15-place daycare provision. The nursery was full within days of opening and a huge waiting list was established.

What's next for you?

We have highlighted a number of opportunities for expansion in the UK, as well as overseas in Dubai and India. Kiddycare is also preparing to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year, so we will be planning a large anniversary event, raising money for charity in the process. Personally, I would like to use my 30 years of experience in childcare and become more involved in the sector at a Government level.
