Spotlight on ... Judith Robinson, Manager, Pre-School Playgroup

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Name: Judith Robinson

Position: Manager at Embsay with Eastby Pre-School Playgroup in Embsay, North Yorkshire.

- How did you go from being on the pre-school's committee to manager?

After joining the parent committee I did my pre-school diploma and started working at the playgroup on a voluntary basis, which led to a paid position. I left after having my third child and worked as a childminder until joining the committee again. Then I started my foundation degree and was given the position of manager.

- Has doing the degree improved your practice?

Doing the degree has definitely improved my practice and helped me see how important it is to work as a team and involve parents. I have loved doing the degree and I thank the college, staff and parents for their support.

- What are your future plans?

I will finish my full degree in around two weeks' time and am hoping to go on to do my honours. I've recently been appointed lead practitioner for the area and would like to develop that.
