The CWDC is recruiting a second intake for its New Leaders in Early Years programme.

The course, which will begin in February 2011 and is run in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University in Kent, aims to develop a new generation of early years graduate leaders. Prospective students must have a 2.1 honours degree and a high level of early years knowledge and skills.

Students who complete the two-year course will be awarded an MA in Early Years and Early Years Professional Status (EYPS).

Thom Crabbe, CWDC national manager for Early Years, told Nursery World that the programme aims to attract students who may not previously have considered studying for an Early Years MA or becoming an EYP (Work Matters, 29 September).

He said of the first intake, who started in November, 'They had various backgrounds, and between them boasted degrees in German, business, law, psychology, youth and community, and theatre design. It's exactly the sort of mix we are looking for.'
