Roll up for best practice advice at the Nursery World Show!

Friday’s masterclass will focus on the new Ofsted judgement ‘Quality of education’, while Saturday’s will explore ‘Behaviour and attitudes’, another new judgement within the EIF.

Quality of education

Explaining how to deliver on Intent, Implementation and Impact within the ‘Quality of education’ judgement will be Dr Julian Grenier, head teacher of Sheringham Nursery School and Children’s Centre, east London, and lead on revising the EYFS guidance Development Matters.

Joining him to give advice on delivering a broad, balanced and challenging early years curriculum are lecturers Dr Jo Basford, an expert in cultural capital, and Dr Sue Dale Tunnicliffe, a Reader in science education, with a special interest in the early years.

Behaviour and attitudes

Outlining the impact of early trauma in the Behaviour and Attitudes masterclass will be Prof Vivette Glover, of Imperial College London, and offering advice on how to support self-regulation and the Characteristics of Effective Learning will be Kevin Kelman, chief education officer at Stirling Council, and Ben Hasan, head teacher of Wentworth Nursery School and Children’s Centre, east London, which was involved in piloting the EIF.

Seminars

Early years consultants Jan Dubiel and Penny Tassoni will be explaining how to ensure progression in children’s learning, across the curriculum and reading in particular. Alice Sharp will be turning her attention to messy play across the ages and the potential for Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering (STEM) learning within makerspaces and tinkering tables.

Other seminar themes include loose parts, how to hone your observation skills, forest school in an urban environment and behaviour.
