The winners of the Design a Fruit or Vegetable Superhero competition held by childcare insurers Morton Michel have shown a creative enthusiasm for healthy living.

Judges Alex Meazzini of Morton Michel, Nursery World Editor Liz Roberts and Yellow Door's Carole Mills spent hours deliberating over the 550 entries.

Entrants were judged in three age categories - under five, five to seven, or eight to ten. Their artwork was submitted by their childcarer or school.

The overall winner was Megan Evans, aged seven, from Warrington, who is cared for by childminder Sally Cliffe. Megan's picture of superhero Pea Man and sidekick Cherry Man (image 4) won her a Grocery Stall from GALT Education.

Hollie Lambourne from Babes in the Wood Nursery in Falkirk was the under-fives winner for her superhero Carrot Blast (1).

The winner of the five-to-seven category (2) was Abigail, aged five, from Caterham in Surrey, whose childminder is Lisa Yeo. In the eight-to-ten category (3) the winner was Felix Semple Varallo, aged eight, from Dry Drayton CE Primary School in Cambridge.
