Bertram receives top accolade for investment in young people

The nursery group has been awarded the Gold Standard for Investors in Young People across its 23 Scottish nurseries for a second time, and for the first time, for its 14 nurseries in England.

It is understood that Bertram is the first business in England to have achieved the accolade, which recognises employers’ commitment to the recruitment, support, development and retention of young people.

Cary Rankin, managing director of Bertram, said, ‘We are very proud to have been awarded the Investors in Young People Gold Standard award across all 37 of our nursery settings. This award demonstrates our continued commitment to the recruitment, support, development and retention of young people in our business, as well as within the sector. ‘It is essential every business makes the effort to welcome and encourage young people into the workplace, ensuring they feel supported and helped through what may be new and sometimes complex systems, processes, policies and procedures.’

Mr Rankin said that Bertram has introduced and embedded a number of initiatives to support all of its employees, these include regular employee consultation group meetings and the introduction of succession planning – a process for identifying and developing new leaders.
