I say normally as there are employers who will dismiss someone for an unfair reason, and some are automatically unfair. When considering terminating an employee, an employer has to consider the grounds it has for that decision.
Perhaps someone has failed to demonstrate the performance needed in the probationary period, or the employer no longer needs someone to do that role. Maybe the need the employer had for the work to be done over the fixed term will not continue. These are all potential dismissals.
