#StandUpForEarlyYears: Nursery children hold their own 'Glastonbury'

Tuesday, July 7, 2020

Walton Nursery and Early Years Centre in Liverpool recreated Glastonbury Festival at nursery last week. Staff and children created ‘Bubblebury,’ a home-made festival complete with its own Pyramid stage, tents and lots of mud!

The children enjoyed an action-packed afternoon performing some of their favourite songs, showing off their singing voices and best dance moves.

Nursery practitioner Rachael Ashcroft, the creator of ‘Bubblebury’, said that the nursery festival could become a regular occurrence at the nursery.

'The children have absolutely loved helping to create their own festival and it has been amazing to welcome them back after what has been a difficult couple of months. The children have not stopped moving all week and it has been difficult to concentrate on building the stage and coordinating the acts at times due to all the laughing and giggling.'

Jennifer Williams, early years teacher, said, 'it was really important for us to support children’s mental health and well-being upon their return to nursery given current circumstances and I knew I could rely on Rachael to create such an amazing and exciting learning environment for our children.'
