New Montessori Early Years Educator qualification launches

A new full-time one-year Montessori Early Years Educator qualification starts next month.
Montessori Centre International, which is offering the course, say it is the first time they have been able to run a one-year full-time course, with student finance available.
The Level 4 Certificate in Higher Education – Montessori Early Childhood Practice course is validated by London Metropolitan University.
The qualification will enable students to work as Montessori practitioners with a relevant qualification.
Students on the course will study with and follow the same modules as full-time students on the first year of the Montessori Foundation Degree.
The course combines classroom study with practical training in an approved Montessori setting.
Students must be 18 or over to start the course this September.
On completion students will be able to work as Montessori EYEs, or continue into the second year of the Foundation Degree in Montessori Early Childhood Practice and gain a Level 5 qualification.
Penny Johns, director of studies at Montessori Centre International, said, ‘The Certificate of Higher Education meets the Early Years Educator criteria and is designed to meet workplace demand for well-qualified Montessori early childhood specialists with high levels of professional competence.
The new MCI course compliments our current portfolio and offers students more choice when deciding which Montessori training pathway is right for them.’
MCI also run a Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy Birth to Seven Early Years Educator course.
