Hundreds of children and parents march against Reception baseline

Thursday, April 25, 2019

More than 200 four-year-olds, their parents and teachers marched to Downing Street today demanding the Government halt its plan to test children when they first start school.

They were joined by MPs, including shadow early years minister Tracy Brabin and Labour MP Jack Dromey, on the protest which was organised by the More Than A Score campaign group.

The children and their parents handed a petition of over 65,000 signatures to Number 10 opposing the Reception baseline assessment, which will test four-year-olds on their English and maths a few weeks into their first term.
