The Conservative Party's policy document 'The Conveyor Belt to Crime' (News, 3 October) provides some interesting food for thought. Can we go back and see what young Jeffrey Archer was like at the age of five, and see if anyone then could tell he was heading for a life of crime?

(News, 3 October) provides some interesting food for thought. Can we go back and see what young Jeffrey Archer was like at the age of five, and see if anyone then could tell he was heading for a life of crime?

Perhaps before any policies are implemented on this basis, it should be tested by picking out a few likely five-year-olds today and then checking whether they've become criminals ten or 20 years from now.
