Where might a yoga lesson take you today?

Treasure hunts with pirates, trips to the circus and voyages into outer space are all possible adventures during Fairfield Preparatory School’s regular yoga classes.

Head of the Loughborough-based school Nikki Young brought in the sessions to introduce the children to mindfulness as well as provide physical benefits.

The teacher uses creative storytelling as well as classic tales such as Little Red Riding Hood to teach the children a variety of poses, stretches, twists, inversions and balances. These all help to strengthen the immune system and core muscles, improve co-ordination and stability, and promote healthy bone growth.

Breath work also helps to slow down the heart rate.
