Tuesday, May 24, 2016

Students at West Kent College enjoyed taking part in a competition to create a speech, language and communication resource for two-year-olds.

The competition was arranged by Emma Marden, lecturer in early years, care and foundation studies at the college, and judged by Nursery World editor Liz Roberts, PACEY partnership executive Richard Griffiths and Avenline Archer, head of pre-school at the Mead School.

The Level 3 Early Years Educator students had to create an age-appropriate resource for two-year-olds to promote speech, langauge and communication. They had to proudce a plan/ideas board, show examples of health and safety considerations, and give their rationale for the design and links to the EYFS.

Resources were then tried out by the two-year-olds from the nursery based at the campus.

The winner was Nina Francis, who made some fantastic puppets to go with a selection of rhymes, along with signing instructions.
