Enhancing Communication in the Early Years is a course aimed at practitioners with a basic knowledge of speech and language development, who wish to develop their ability to identify and support those with additional communication needs.

Practitioners receive ten hours of tuition and undertake a further ten hours of self-directed study. The first study day defines what language is, explores its development and looks at speech, language and communication (SLCN) needs. The second day explores how SLCN can affect access to the curriculum and strategies for meeting the needs of children.

The self-directed study aspect includes creating reflective practice workbooks and reviewing their objectives.

Organisations and settings can buy this course on a flexible basis.
