EYP Update: Attracting the best

24 February 2010, 12:00am

The Children's Workforce Development Council has launched the tender for training providers who are interested in running a training pilot programme to attract top graduates to EYPS.

CWDC national manager for early years, Thom Crabbe, says, 'This is a similar scheme to the Training and Development Agency's Teach First scheme, designed to attract high-calibre graduates into teaching who might not have considered it as a career. The two-year course under development will lead to EYPS and include practical experience, leading to a job at the end.'

The tender is open to all training providers, although he expects bids from existing EYPS providers and says the course will ultimately be shaped by their proposals.
