Spotlight on ... Fi Star-Stone, Nanny and nursery nurse

28 January 2010, 12:00am

Name: Fi Star-Stone

Position: Professional nanny and nursery nurse, London

- Why did you create the website, www.childcareisfun.co.uk?

I realised there were lots of sites for parents but not for carers or both. I wanted to bring the two together, particularly focusing on nannies, and on how fun childcare is rather than seeing it as a chore or task.

- You have 18 years' experience working in childcare. Why did you decide to put that on hold?

I'm on maternity leave at the moment and want to concentrate on looking after my four-month-old daughter and the new baby when it arrives. I worked as a professional nanny after working in a nursery and doing a degree in Childhood and Youth Studies.

- What are your future plans?

I want to concentrate on building up the website, Facebook and Twitter site and my Facebook page 'I'm a Nanny Not a Childminder/Au Pair/Babysitter, You Idiot', which has over 300 members. I want to continue with my blog and answering parents and carers' problems.

- Send your suggestions for Spotlight on ... to news.nw@haymarket.com
