Baby takes part in brain study

21 January 2010, 12:00am

Four-month-old Matai Reid from Durham took part in a brain study last week to help psychologists at Durham University understand how autism develops in babies.

Matai was fitted with a cap with sensors attached to record how his brain responded to moving images on a television screen. Researchers hope the study of babies, from newborn to two years old, will help identify developmental delays at a younger age and lead to earlier diagnosis of autism. To take part in the study visit www.dur.ac.uk/cdp/research/baby-lab.
